Overview of Goodyear
Goodyear started as farmland purchased by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1917 to grow cotton for its tires, and it's since become one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, with population climbing from roughly 95,000 in 2020 to well over 118,000 today. It's now the largest city in the West Valley by land area, with new master-planned communities continuing to fill in around it.
Recreation
Every spring, Goodyear Ballpark hosts Cactus League spring training for the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds, drawing baseball fans from across the Valley in February and March. For racing fans, just a few minutes away in Avondale is Phoenix Raceway, home to two NASCAR Cup Series weekends each year, including the season finale.
